Garland Wins Gordon Jones Award

The Western Demons are pleased to announce that Colin Garland has been awarded the Gordon Jones Memorial Trophy for the game against West Coast on Thursday 28th April 2011.

On a night when the Dees were soundly beaten in most facets of the game, Colin worked hard in defence all night to contain the Eagles big forwards and relentlessly tried to create attacking rebounds.  If others in the team had done their jobs as well as Colin did his that night, the result may well have been different. 

 

The Gordon Jones memorial trophy will be presented to Colin when Melbourne next travel to Perth to play.

Frawley Wins Gordon Jones Award

The Western Demons are delighted to announce that James Frawley has been awarded the Gordon Jones Memorial Trophy for the game against Fremantle on Sunday 18th July 2010.

Playing at centre half back, James lead a creative defence in the 2nd half of the game that assisted in turning a 39 point half time deficit into a narrow 11 point loss to the Dockers.

James was instrumental in restricting the influence of his direct opponent in Mathew Pavlich who remained goalless for the entire game.

The Gordon Jones memorial trophy will be presented to James when Melbourne next travel to Perth to play.

Gordon Jones Award for Moloney

Brent Moloney is the worthy recipient of the 2009 Gordon Jones Award for his efforts during the Melbourne vs West Coast Eagles game at Subiaco on Sunday, May 10th.

Brent worked tirelessly all day, and provided plenty of vigour in and around the clearances, repeatedly driving the Dees into attack, in a game that could well have ended in an upset win for the team but for a few too many unforced errors.

Congratulations, Brent, on a fine performance, from the Western Demons!

Gordon Jones Trophy

The Western Demons are proud to announce the winner of  the Gordon Jones Memorial  trophy for the Melbourne vs.  Fremantle game played on Sunday 20th July 2008 was  Cameron Bruce

Cameron received the award for his 28 game day  possessions and around the ground  effort for the day.

Western Demons congratulate Cameron for the award and it will be presented to  Cameron when the team next journeys to Perth.
