2009 Annual Raffle Drawn - Here's the Winners.......!

The Western Demons annual fundraiser raffle was drawn on Saturday, 25th July, at 20 Claygate Drive, Kingsley, and the lucky prizewinners are as follows:

• 1st Prize ($3000 Holiday Voucher) - Ticket No 3390, Pabu Cameron
• 2nd Prize (Hot Air Balloon Ride for 2) - Ticket No 0069, Sue Ascot
• 3rd Prize (Gold Class Cinema Package for 2) - Ticket No 2752, Danny Scott 

All winners have been notified, and these results will also be published in the West Australian on Wednesday, 29th July, 2009.

Liam Jurrah - Round 15 Rising Star

Liam Jurrah from the Melbourne Football Club is the NAB AFL Rising Star nominee for Round 15.

Liam was instrumental in Melbourne’s 11-point win over Port Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday, booting four goals.  

The 20-year old from Yuendumu, 300 kilometers North-West of Alice Springs has been an exciting addition to the Melbourne forward line since making his AFL debut against Essendon at Docklands in Round 12.

His elevation to the senior team came after back-to-back four-goal hauls with the Casey Scorpions in the VFL.

He has played all four matches since his debut, kicking at least one goal in each game and a total of eight for the year. 

From the Warlpiri tribal lands, Liam was recruited by Melbourne with the first selection in the 2009 NAB AFL Preseason Draft.

Liam emerged as an AFL prospect while playing with the Yuendumu Magpies. In 2008 he was brought to Melbourne where he played four games with Collingwood’s VFL team.

Liam is Melbourne’s second consecutive NAB AFL Rising Star nominee following Jack Grimes in Round 14. 

TV Functions - Rounds 17 to 19

The Western Demons have arranged the following gatherings to coincide with live telecasts into Perth of the Dees games in Rounds 17-19:

• Rnd 17, Sunday 26th July, v Sydney, Manuka - Melbourne Hotel, start time 11.10 am 
• Rnd 18, Sunday 2nd August, v Richmond, MCG - Melbourne Hotel, start time 11.10 am
• Rnd 19, Sunday 9th August, v North Melbourne, Docklands - Melbourne Hotel, start time 11.10 am

It is recommended that supporters confirm the above arrangements prior to each game by calling our Newsline on 08-94870928.

Everyone is welcome, no entry charge, so we hope you can come along and help us urge the lads on to finishing the season on a high note.

Footy Tipping Update - Round 16

  Current leaders in the 2009 Western Demons Footy Tipping Competition after Round 16 are as follows:

• Leading the comp on 95 points is "Robbie4PM"
• Right on his heels on 94 points is Mark Johnson
• One point further back on 93 points is "Bench Mark"
• In equal 4th position on 92 points are Steve Bassett and Georgia Moulton
• And in equal 6th place on 91 points are Daniel Demaine and Geoffrey Hastie
• A full listing of everyone's current standing in the competition will be published after Round 18.
